Hi, I’m Travis Layton, but most people know me online as Trav in the Bush — a bird photographer, storyteller, and full-time workshop leader passionate about helping people capture birds in wild places.

In 2025, I became a Nikon Canada Ambassador, a milestone I’m incredibly proud of. I’ve also had the chance to collaborate with organizations like Cranbrook Tourism, Visit Arizona, B&H Photo, Birda App, The BC Bird Trail, and more.

Across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, I’ve built a community of over 250,000 nature lovers — but offline is where the real magic happens.

🥾 From Wilderness Guide to Workshop Leader

Before I was ever a photographer, I was a full-time wilderness guide — leading multi-day expeditions by foot, sea kayak, and dog sled across Canada. For nearly 5 years, I spent more nights in a tent than a bed, guiding guests from around the world through some of the wildest landscapes this country has to offer.

Now I’ve taken that same passion for guiding and turned it into my own bird photography company. Through Trav in the Bush, I run small-group bird photography adventures around the world — blending high-level instruction with unforgettable experiences.
